Passport Photo Tips

For U.S. passports, you are not allowed to wear glasses, headbands or spaghetti straps. However, you can smile!
Some countries require a neutral expression. If your photo is for a country other than the U.S., you’ll want to research that country’s requirements. Some things to research are allowed expressions, head coverings, clothing, etc.
You may not use a filter on your photo. Filtered photos are not authorized for use by any government.
Photo MUST be taken up against a white wall, with no obstructions such as windows, doors, brick, light fixtures, etc.
Photo file needs to be uploaded as a .jpeg or .jpg file. Other file formats cannot be properly formatted.
Photo should be taken from mid-chest up- leaving room above the top of your head in the picture with BOTH ears showing.
It is better for a photo to be taken from further away than close up.
